Let's all admit this: the first round of the tournament was thoroughly disappointing. Even Duke losing wasn't as fun as usual, and there were a grand total of 2 upsets, both 6-11. Not even the "guaranteed" 5-12 upset, thanks to Illinois blowing it (not that I needed another reason to dislike them, but thanks for blowing one of my picks). Maybe there will actually be some games that give Kevin Harlan a chance to use the golden voice that he is so anxiously waiting to unleash. That said, let's move on.
Interesting commercial on the old television these days. It's for Chevrolet, meaning American cars, meaning they need to do something to stop getting dominated by better, more efficient, nicer cars made by every other country. So obviously something needs to be done to stop the decade-long run of Japanese auto domination. Can the marketing teams PLEASE save American car manufacturers?
Here's the solution: NASCAR + Dale Earnhardt, Jr. + TI (the hip-hop artist) at the infield of some speedway, most likely in the south. Take a watch:
Now really, I don't know who Chevy is trying to appeal to here. Is it the NASCAR crowd. Is it the urban crowd, are they trying to do a cross-over and mix the two? Either way, I just don't think that the NASCAR crowd is going to be pumped that Chevy is now hip enough to put TI in one of their videos. He is the King of the South and all, but I don't know if that is officially recognized by his redneck constituency. And I'm trying to imagine a convo between a NASCAR driver and a hip-hop artist. I mean, think of Tony Stewart and Ludacris sitting down for a little chit, little chat. Weird and odd. That's all I can say.
Ridiculous that I'm not posting about college basketball? Sure. But apparently Bill Simmons now is covering that, too. So why even bother?

A break from the madness for a little Tank
Terry "Tank" Johnson, defensive lineman, got sentenced to 120 days in prison today with a $2,500 fine for violating his 2005 probation. Tank was quoted with saying, "In retrospect, I should not have guns in my home."
Yes, Tank you should not have guns in your house...that are loaded and are easily accesible by your children. You don't need to a college education to understand that kids play with anything that is in front of them. Who fell off the moran tree hit, hit every branch on the way down, the tree fell on top of him, and had a branch imbeded into his skull?
I also enjoy how Jerry Angelo (the GM of the Chicago Bears) wanted to fire Tank faster than Lance Briggs wants to get off the Bears when he found out what Tank did. A day later with some conferencing with current players and Lovie, he decided that they were just going to suspend him. Mostly so Tank could play in the Super Bowl. What is the best is that Tank had no positive effect on the Super Bowl and the Bears got their asses handed to them.
So way to go Angelo, Lovie, Ted Phillips, and all other 'higher ups' and taking the high road....

Dicky V Effect
You know what I hate? The fact that Duke is a higher seed in the NCAA Tournament than they were in the ACC Tournament. In my opinion, which counts for very little apparently, Duke should have been nothing more than a 10 seed. 6 seed? C'mon. That is a bunch of bullpooey. I am sure that Dicky V was in there "doing some laundry" if you know what I mean. Did I mention that I hate Duke almost as much as I hate seeing a fat girls midsection. Duke gets into the tourny this year simply because the NCAA and Dicky V love them. They should be slugging it out with the Purple Pussies in the NIT!

Real Men of Genius

With the ongoing bracketology on ESPN starting in November, it becomes clear on the day of Selection Sunday who the teams were that squeaked in and who was given the shaft. Here's who I heard the most: Drexel, Syracuse, and FSU, with K-State a little bit. Drexel was the worst however. BUT, if you look at the NIT bracket, NONE, let me repeat NONE of those teams are seeded number 1. STOP making a big deal about snubs if they aren't even seeded number one in the LOSER'S bracket. Apparently Miss St, WV, Air Force, and Clemson should be the ones complaining. ON TOP OF THAT, Drexel was the most debated... and what do they do, THEY LOSE IN THE FIRST ROUND!!! You don't get respect and/or a gripe if you don't go out and prove that you belong there. What do the non-mid-majors do, they win. 'Cuse, FSU, Michigan, NC St., WV, K-St. they win. So stop talking about how mid-majors are at the same level as the big conference schools. They just aren't.
